Care of Wood Products

Care of Wood Products

How to take care of wood products
Any piece of wood is “live”, porous and can absorb moisture, stains or odors. Our products are meant to be used for décor and not for food purposes.
In order to keep the bowl’s beautiful sheen, we suggest taking following measures:
  • avoid placing the wood product directly to the sunlight
  • avoid extreme temperatures (heat or cold)
  • avoid humidity
  • avoid using chemicals or abrasives
  • do not expose to harsh surfaces which may scratch your products
  • our products are handcrafted to enjoy. They are not meant to be used with foods such as fruits, breads or cheeses.
  • don't place any liquids on them.
  • any contact with liquid, we suggest to immediately wipe it off and dry
All these factors can contribute to fading, cracking and can affect the finish of the product.
We recommend to periodically wiping the bowls with a soft cloth by applying light quantities of domestic products such as beeswax or flaxseed oil. This leaves the bowls silky and keeps their natural luster.

How to clean Cutting Boards:
Our cutting boards are more decorative than for any other purpose. If you still wish to place food on them, we recommend the following:
Rub the surface with
  • a lemon slice or
  • sprinkle some salt if you see a stained area.
  • For deeper stains, you may also try using fine sandpaper mixed with water. Use this very carefully and softly as it will change the texture of the wood.
Please note:
It is important to only rub along the wood grain. Rinse the board after each use to keep their attractive finish. This should remove odors and stains. Dry the board with a clean soft cloth. Place the board against the countertop and let it dry.
We recommend periodically oiling the board to restore its smooth surface and also protect it from moisture.
Attention:
Don’t ever leave a cutting board too long in water, as it will definitely make the wood split.
